City of Snohomish Adopt-a-Park Program

Interested in Adopting a Park? Volunteer!

The Adopt-a-Park Program is a program available to community groups, neighborhood groups, businesses, families, or individuals who wish to take an active role in maintaining the wonderful parks in Snohomish. Some of the tasks that groups can participate in are litter pickup, painting picnic tables or playground equipment, planting and tending to flowers, raking, or other activities to enhance the Snohomish parks.

Why Adopt-a-Park?
Developed a few years ago, the program’s purpose is to utilize community-based help to supplement our Parks Department. We are lucky to have many parks and open spaces which contribute greatly to our wonderful quality of life. With a limited budget to maintain all that, the city needs some help.

How To Adopt-a-Park
Pick a Park
-- We have many parks to choose from. Big parks such as Pilchuck, Ferguson, Hill, and the Skate park complex. We also have smaller scale neighborhood parks; Morgantown, Claytown, Fischer, Cady, and Kla Ha Ya parks. Pocket parks are even smaller areas which need attention; Union & First St. benches and railing area, City Hall flower beds, the Gazebo, as well as our Gateway areas around town. Also our trails need weed whacking and mowing. Click on the City Parks Which Need Help link to see a map of city park locations.

What do YOU want to do?
All our parks & trails share the same needs: mowing, weeding, raking, litter control, maintenance of any picnic tables or benches and other facilities. Also, wood chip fluffing and spreading in any play areas.

Tell us-- Click on the Contact Us link and email us what you'd like to do, where and when. We will send you a release form to sign and return or you can download the form from the links below.  We can also coordinate your desired activity with others who might be doing similar projects. If you'd like to talk to a person,
call Lea Anne Burke, the Adopt-a-Park coordinator at

IPM-- The city of Snohomish made a great step forward toward reducing harmful toxins in our parks and public places by adopting an Integrated Pest Management strategy for the city. Products determined to be "high hazard" are no longer allowed.
